Tactical Urbanism

TACTICAL URBANISM

Click to open the Tactical Urbanism Guide

Tactical urbanism is a low-cost, short-term approach to change the overall use and feel of streets and public spaces.

These small scale projects are used to advance longer-term goals related to street safety and the design of public safety.

Tactical urbanism is temporary in nature, using lighter materials while demonstrating the potential for long-term change.

The Tactical Urbanism Guide was created by the Department of City Planning and Atlanta Department of Transportation to provide communities, organizations, and businesses with tools to lead, fund and implement interventions within the right-of-way to catalyze change in the public realm.
